Weekly Lesson, Cancelation & Makeups
The lesson times are assigned upon registration and tuition reserves that weekly lesson appointment. When taking private lessons, you are paying for the reserved time rather than the lesson. Please review your schedule carefully for any conflicts with your reserved lesson time, and communicate these to me by the end of the first week each semester. Due to the amount of students in my studio, I cannot accommodate changes to lessons times or days. Please choose a lesson day and time that will work for the entire semester.
All students are permitted a maximum of two makeup lessons per semester. This includes lessons missed due to illness (please do not come if you or your child is sick!). If a conflict in your schedule arises, please consult me as soon as possible. Lessons missed and not rescheduled will be forfeited. Please reschedule your lesson only if it is absolutely necessary.
For last-minute cancellations and rescheduling or no-shows, I am not able to offer makeup lessons and the lesson will be forfeit. Please try to plan in advance to avoid missing lessons.
For any regularly scheduled lesson canceled due to weather or teacher absence, a makeup lesson will be given or a tuition refund. All makeup lessons will be scheduled during the semester in which they are missed, i.e. no makeup lessons will be given during the summer for missed spring semester lessons. You may not carry the lesson into vacation or another semester.
Progress is contingent upon consistent attendance and regular lesson attendance is important. Attendance at all lessons, concerts and recitals is mandatory. Repeated absences will result in dismissal.
Please arrive 5-10 minutes before each lesson this way the student will not feel rushed or harried before going into their lesson. Please use the restroom and have a snack prior to the lesson time. In the event that you are late, please notify your teacher (via text message or phone call, if this can be done safely). The lesson will end at the originally scheduled time.
Siblings, other family members and friends are welcome in the lesson but please bring a quiet activity to work on during the lesson. If a sibling becomes disruptive during the lesson, please leave the studio in order to avoid being a distraction.
Instrument & Materials
The instrument, music books and other accessories are not included in the lesson cost. It is the responsibility of the parent to obtain a cello and purchase all the necessary books and items for the lessons. The student is expected to bring the instrument, books and accessories to every lesson.
I reserve the right to dismiss a student for failure to practice regularly, attend weekly lessons, maintain a review and listening schedule, failure to pay lesson tuition and behavioral or respect issues.
